The biggest reasons that people choose not to attend physical therapy are they may not have the insurance to cover the costs or they don’t have the time to attend. The majority of people who do not attend physical therapy at all usually end up back in the hospital for the same injury or an injury caused by their previous one. Each hospital has to treat patients whether they can pay for it or not. This is leading to many hospitals going into major debt that they can’t pay back and are forced to close. According to Mrs. Betsy Farmer, a nurse from the emergency room at northeast Georgia medical center, “a lack or resources, an increased number of indigent patients, lack of insured patients – a possibility of insurance claims being rejected,” can all be causes of this insane amount of debt hospitals are experiencing along with patients who do not attend therapy.
